Impala Police package

Hello, I have a 3900 V6 with the engine oil cooler in the radiator. The manual reads oil cpacity at 5.1 quarts. The max I put is about 4. Is there a plug on radiator I'm missing??? This Impala had 35000 miles when purchased as is like NEW. Haydad

the gm service info for that engine calls for is 3.8Liters. 4L is what brings it to the max mark.

5.1quarts is a definite error.

This is an 09 Impala with the 3900 V6. I wish it had the 3800. My concern was contaminating the NEW oil with the oil in the radiator if it didn't all drain.

the volume of oil remaining in the oil cooler is less than a cup of coffee. If you removed the line even with the system full of oil you probably wouldn't get much draining out.

Do your oil changes regularly (don't wait untill the oil life monitor expires) and drain while the oil is hot and you will be fine.

I noticed discoloration in oil after change imediately after checking oil level and was concered that a great deal more oil was left in radiator. A cup I can live with. Thanks Haydad
