Recalibrating blend door actuator not working. Need help

Hello, I have a 2014 Impala Limited and having trouble trying to calibrate passenger actuator. Original problem was the drivers side would only blow cold hair. Replaced it and it somewhat works but won’t go to 100% heat. The passenger side has now started clicking for a minute or two, so I changed it and the drivers side again. I’ve tried leaving the battery cable off all night with ignition switch forward, pulled different fuses. It is moving but will click after the door gets to its stop point, I’m assuming. Is there a different way to recalibrate or am I missing something? Thanks for any help.

I know a bidirection diagnostic scanner can do it.

But if you hear clicking then the door actuator is jumping teeth and probably damaged and needs replacing.

Would you need an expensive bi directional scanner or can I get one for $1-200 and it work. I’ve never dealt with anything other than a code reader. I believe the actuators are still good because they will still move back and forth but when it reaches its limit it’s as if whatever module or circuit that should know it’s at its max movement isn’t sensing it. Wasn’t sure if there was another way to calibrate them or if I’m missing something?

looks like you can get one for around $350

With the actuators removed should I be able to turn the shaft on the blend door by hand? I can’t turn them.

plug in the new actuator and test it. You might be able to see the blend door open and close.

Thanks for any input. In case anyone has the same issue. I think I have it figured out. I was buying the cheapest ones on Amazon and they would still click. I bought Dorman brand and haven’t had an issue.
