Should I buy / trade for a K5 blazer
 

Hi guys,
I'm new to the k5 blazer, but it looks like for college, my parents have decided to give me their 2006 Lexus Gx470 with 185k miles. I'm not really a fan of the soft, lumpy, boug-y SUV look though, so I'm thinking about trying to sell it or trade it for something else. I'm moving to Philly to finish my college (23 so it's about damn time), and I already have a 2 door sports car that's all paid off, so I could use something a bit more off-road / snow worthy. Even with the high miles, the GX470 is worth $6k-8k, and one of my favorite looking (affordable) SUVs is the K5 blazer. Is it a reasonably reliable car? Are there any engines or years in particular that are better to look into than others? I read that the 6.2 diesel is super-duper slow, so I was probably going to avoid that one.

I'm currently in college and I own a 1987 K5 blazer with a 350...the truck is great to drive year round and gets more looks than you can imagine, but the only complaint I have is the gas mileage...on a good week I'm lucky to get 10 mpg, but I also like to put my foot down quite often. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/chevrol...fe665ab888.jpg
