2005 Malibu 2.2 engine blown
 

RIP engine. It served my daughter's car well.

The estimates I'm getting for replacing the engine are all over the place.

A rebuilt engine is out of the question for her; the cost would appear to be more than the value of the car.

My question is this: if I buy a used engine from a reputable parts recycler, what is the book number of labor hours, and what seals/gaskets will automatically need to be replaced on installation?

might be cheaper and easier to buy the tranny with the engine, just a thought.
