2010 Chevrolet Malibu LS (4 Cylinder) Not Shifting Out Of First Gear Until 4000 RPM
My Chevy is having trouble switching out of the first gear. It's starting to take more time just to do so. I know this is a major problem. I wanted know if this involves a transmission fluid change, or an oil change. If neither, what could the problem be? I appreciate any responses. Thanks.

Is the speedometer reading? If so, and I am not sure if that late of model has a vacuum modulator valve or not.

the speedometer is reading pretty well. Nothing off there. I don't know if I can check to see if it has a vacuum modulator valve. Will it be in plain sight if I open the hood of the car? or is it within the engine?

If it has one, will be on the transmission, with a vacuum hose to it. The newer cars I am not on top of as I don't own any younger than a 2003

The speed sensor controls when to shift, it the speedometer isn't reading, it's a speed sensor. That will cause it to not shift until high rpms.
