2010 malibu service esc car dead!

Hello to everyone I hope for a quick result as I'm in the middle of moving this week....

Earlier today I was in the left hand turning lane when all the bells and whistles started going off with a message that read service esc and traction accompanied by a traction control light and engine light. Suddenly the car died and needed a tow. I can start the car but immediately after starting the car dies again. Alternator and battery were both tested and are not the problem the fuses are all in good condition. To hopefully speed up this process some background info on the car..

it is a 2010 chevy malibu lt with the 4 cylinder engine was in need of an oil change when this occurred and a wheel bearing. Please somebody help I dont even know where to begin to diagnose the problem.....

begin by reading the status of the diagnostic system with a scan tool

Scanned this morning still showing engine light with service esc message but no codes are shown

ok you need a more sophisticated scanner. I think Autozone will scan it for free.

Can't get it to AutoZone unfortunately and I used a mechanics scanner from a friend of mine who works at crappy tire. You dont think that ones enough?

No because it did not retrieve the code.

What kind of scanner is it?
