Cruise Control doesn’t take over the throttle
2000 Malibu LS 214,000 miles
The cruise control turns on and it sets with the word “cruise” on the dash coming on and going off if I hit the brake, but it never grabs the throttle and keeps the speed up any more. It’s almost like the cable isn’t connected to the same place as the gas pedal is connected to (sorry I forgot what it is called).
Does anyone know what could be the cause of this? Has anyone experienced this sort of thing?

If the cable is connected to the throttle body, The cruise sets, then the cruise control module is bad. The module is a small box with cable attached. under the hood.
You should be able to get a good one from a bone yard.
