3.5 Head Gasket Problem 2007 Monte Carlo

I purchased a 2007 Monte Carlo used with the 3.5 flexfuel and a 100,000 bumper to bumper warranty. The car had 12,000 miles when I bought it and only has 26,000 on it now. I have had the car in the shop 3 times for bad head gaskets. The last time they replaced them both with a new style gasket and said that it should take care of the problem. Now I am again losing Antifreeze and the heater is blowing cold.

Since I bought the car used what are the chances of getting GM to replace the whole engine under warranty this time?

there is a TSB on this issue....

Hi glmoore0001,

Welcome to the Chevy Forums.

I'd say you have a valid case, but I'm not the Chevy Dealership. I'd advise a positive attitude and an open mind on your behalf, coupled with low expectations.

Sometimes I think they make warranty repair decisions with an 8-ball fortune teller. They'll say yes to some insanely high priced unmerited repair one minute, then turn around the next and refuse simple basic service based on what, to be kind, seems to be an arbitrary and very unequal basis.

In your favor is repeated failures by the dealer to fix this prior to now. Time and advancing model years are working against you, though. IMO it's a tossup, but if you push for a new engine, what they'll negotiate you down to will be herds better than what they'll give you if you just take whatever they give you, in any event.

in the shop monday

The vehicle is going into the shop tomorrow, the service manager said he would give me a number to call and bitch should it be the head gaskets again.
We will see what happens...
thanks for the reply...gm

i would say after what 3 head gaskets they would look into it a bit more like warped heads or block

iv work on a few of these the heads warp very easy and the lower intake has 2 hidden bolts if they where not put back in or torqued right they can be leaking i had a guy drop off his monte that a shop just worked his and they didnt put the 2 bolts back in or torqe them and the antifreeze was leaking from the intake gasket into the engine oil and he blew the motor when you have the car hot take off the oil filler cap and see if steam comes out if it does you have antifreeze in your oil change it fast.
