Do I need a 5/8 inch or 1" for this car? Any online parts recomendations? Just put a radiator in. Bleed the cooling system properly. Replace the radiator cap if you have one, or if it is on the overflow tank - replace it if it has never been replaced or replaced a long time ago. |
Sorry the 5/8 or 1" reference is to the core depth Online sites show both sizes

You got me. You could head to your chevy parts store and give them your VIN and they should be able to tell you.
Have you tried gm-parts direct? I'm not sure what the difference is between w/HD and w/o HD cooling?? What is HD cooling? that's probably the difference. ahhh - Chevy Lumina with Heavy Duty Cooling 1996, Ready-Rad™ Radiator by Vista-ProŽ. ...or you could measure the one in your car. |
lol I could if it were here, It will be towed to me this week, was just wanting to get a jump dering the part. From what I have read since then the 5/8 is for base car the 1" is simply called HD for heavy duty As live in hot Texas, think I will get the 1:

Ended up ordering one from RockAuto online. $102 and it was an easy swap. Only hard part was prying the engine forward to put those body struts back on the front. Just took borrowing my wife for a minute. And even tho the part description said it was a 1" radiator, the actual part was a 5/8....oh well
|
Maybe the 5/8th is 1/2 :)
What does your old one measure? |
Well it is same as the new one 5/8 I guess the 1" one was for heavy duty Lumina's ( is there such a thing?" lol
Was not aware people may tow with them |
