Another GM enthusiast from Europe

Hi guys, i read this forum for a long time ago, and today, i decided to sign up.

I am from Seville in South of Spain (Europe), i am a great enthusiast of the american cars (specially GM cars), the last year i traveled to the USA east coast for a road trip with a rent car, i wanted to rent a corvette but be less than 25 years I could only rent a mustang, but for the next travel y will rent a corvette for the west coast road trip.

I wait learn more about the american cars culture, because here in Spain i only know the american cars thru tv shows like overhaulin, rides and other discovery channel shows.

I'm the owner of a european GM car;), my car is a Opel Calibra '91 150hp

Ok so maybe you can give me some insight here, What kind of Chevy do they use for the Celebrity lap on Top Gear, it looks like a malibu, but not quite

It's a Lacetti. They're also racing them in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), some of the best 'standard' car racing you'll see.

Yes it's a lacetti, but i don't like this car, because the engine is really small, i think the lacetti got a 1.6L ,but is funny the lacetti's top gear test.

Welcome Phaeton, I like your screen name. When the GM Nova was introduced in Spain, did they sell well?

Phaeton April 8th, 2009 8:36 PM

I'm not sure, but here in europe only was sold the nova in UK, in spain and the rest of europe was sold like Opel corsa.

the corsa was sold well because it is a very reliable car.

i'm building now a opel corsa with a friend, we have changed the engine for a c20let (200Hp) + turbo phase II aprox. 300 hp and a gearbox 6-speed. the corsa weight is less than 800Kg (1763 lb), it will be insane.

Haha. I just got it Gwampa. Took me a minute. Nova can mean "no go" in Spanish.

i'm sorry but, i don't understand. In Spanish "no va" is "doesn't go", but i think, gwampa was talking about of the Vauxhall nova, no??

It actually didn't sell well in Mexico, where I beleive it was introduced first, and they changed the name for selling in other countries
