Choosing the right motor oil for new 383 vortec

I just rebuilt my 5.7vortec into a 383 thoughts on what oil to run I'm thinking of Valvoline blue 15w40 I've heard great things but I'm on the fence

What did you prime the oil pump with? Depending on ALOT of things, area, driving, pulling etc. Myself, since I pull a trailer, and cold/hot weather I use 5-30 in my 5.3. That is what Chevy recommends. Also in a full synthetic.I'm sure you will get several replies.

I would continue to use the same oil as before myself.
