Hi to All,
Stumbled on to the forum while pokin round for info on my 2000 Malibu LS. A motorhead from way back currently have a 94 GMC 2500 conversion van, and a 98 Toyo Corolla. Its been a bad car week a new waterpump in the Toyo, Then next day the fuel pump failed on the GMC,In the tank so I changed out the sending unit w/pump. Just ordered KYB struts for the Malibu. Never ends LOL

Welcome. I hate that you aren't having the greatest of luck with your cars. Hope you find what you need, and hang around!

Hey Joe, nice having you here. Don't tell me the Dexcool hasen't killed your intake gasket on the Malibu yet? Oops, wasn't supposed to say Dexcool. Meant to say that highly corrosive, 150,000 mile warrented, coolant. Pardon please. But at least you know how to work on 'em.

He never said anything about intake gaskets....
Anyway, Dex-cool is a great coolant. Its the incompatible gaskets that are at fault.

ok wait sorry i'm not a GM guy sorry just bought a Chevy Venture I'm a Mazda Fan but i thought DEX-cool is what these cars need sorry but i find that to be a little bit bull****. is it true or can you use other coolant?

EvansBlue Feb 17, 2009 9:51 AM

You can use a universal coolant, usually yellow under the Prestone brand.
Dex-cool is what they recommend for new (94 and up) GM vehicles.

Sounds good. Hey where do i post a thread about getting some info on a motor swap?

EvansBlue Feb 17, 2009 3:53 PM

Engine and Internal. Or you could use the section corresponding to your model.
