overheating in traffic

71 Nova 406 sbc, turbo 400 ,430 rearend . Car is overheating in traffic, runs 180 on freeway. Thinking it might be fan clutch worn out, going to try flex fan before investing in a quality electric cooling fan. Car has a Griffin radiator and new anti-freeze with RP ice added. Any other ideas are welcome.

That's what I'd do, how fast is the fan turning (approx.)

Seems to be a little slow at idle, so as soon as my flex fan gets delivered I will try it out. Have a car show on sat.

Installed flex fan on friday, seems to have helped. Moving on to some electrical problems.

Do you have the right fan shroud, if so does it fit properly?
