2005 Chevy Express 1500 all-purpose track hauler/tow rig

2005 Chevrolet Express
Clean CA title in hand
104xxx miles

Have you been wanting to do more track, but is hooking your trailer up to your daily driver and trying to adhere to a 55mph speed limit fairly suck?

Have you been wanting to do more track, but is loading your bike into a tall pickup bed and having to keep checking to make sure your stuff is all there, especially when you park for a bite on the way home, fairly suck?

Have you been wanting a do-it-all track hauler, and just not known it?

Well, you need this van. It started life as a passenger van, but its life quickly changed when the second owners (us) got our hands on it. The passenger van is a better basis for a track hauler than the cargo van – the sound deadening is better (no rattle-rattle), the amenities are better (power windows, cruise control – not available on the cargo vans of that era), and the seat mounts make spectacular tie-down points. The glass is privacy glass, so anyone who wants to know what’s in there can just go on wondering.

The fitted mat we installed on the floor resists anything fluid a motorcycle might choose to drip down, and is a good non-stick surface for tying down a bike.

The low load height makes it super easy to get bikes in and out. We can, and have, fit three bikes in it – two facing forward, one facing back. And that’s with all of the stands, tools, gear, EZ up, chairs, cooler of beer, and all of the other things you need to make a successful track weekend. We’ve put down an inflatable mattress and camped in it after unloading.

Lots of really good additions.
  • Class IV tow hitch, wired for both types of trailer wiring connectors. We’ve towed a 21’ toy hauler with this thing, and carried bikes on a hitch carrier with ease.

What helps with the towing is:
  • Upgraded front Porterfield towing brake pads
  • Upgraded Bilstein shocks
  • Trailer brake controller
  • Recent differential service with a taller final gear and fresh diff oli

Also
  • Silverado 17" alloy rims
  • Michelin Defender LT tires with tons of life left.
  • Alpine Bluetooth head unit with microphone wired to above the driver. CA-legal for phone calls, and you can play your music off your phone like a civilized human.
  • All-weather floor mats
  • Removable center seat. You can either carry a small additional friend, or use it to keep your stuff with you instead of rolling back.

This van won't win any beauty contests, but it will work hard for you and bring you and all your ****e comfortably and safely. All of this American reliability and functionality for $3,200.
