1993 S10 Running Hot
 

ok, asked around and found this forum. My dad's s10 is having some serious heat issues with the engine and honestly he is looking through the model manual to find if there is anything to do, and hopefully he will find something to go on
P.S. Would there be any sensor/valve thing that might overheat the engine?

So far he has tried:
Putting more antifreeze:not the issue Plenty of that stuff
Filling the water thing every time he goes home and gets to work (thats OBVIOUSLY not working out, and if it did, i wouldnt be posting here if it did work)
Replaced the thermostat it still ran hot
Took out new thermostat, still ran hot
No water in the oil, still ran hot. head gasket isnt blown
He thinks its the fan clutch, or the water pump is bad
Btw, is there any sensor that could be messing with the cooling system?

Not only a fan clutch or water pump can cause your problems. Clogged or leaking radiator, clogged water jackets in the engine, cracked /leaking overflow tank, leaking hoses, leaking heater core, etc. Don't overlook any of them.

Most times what the system is telling you is what it is. If it says overheating it probably is.

Heater core is bypassed, radiator is new, overflow tank is not cracked or leaking,hoses are new, radiator cap is new, original thermostat was rusted and bad, and it runs hot during the heat of the day in south carolina, usually takes about 10-15 to start warming up and getting hot, 15-20 mins. time running, cannot see any leaks from fan clutch, if the orginal was rusty, could there be debris inside the water jackets that disrupts water flow when the engine gets warm. could a bad coolant sensor or switch cause it to run hot during the heat of the day
this is what my dad told me to write to people know what is wrong and can help us, any answers to this predicament can and will be thanked heavily for.

1)Heater core is bypassed. That is bypassing another "radiator".
2) radiator is new Ok, is it the proper two- or three row radiator? What has changed since this problem started?.
3) cannot see any leaks from fan clutch I don't think you will find any liquid leaks as the clutch fan is mechanical.

heater core was leaking into the passenger floorboard had to bypass, did not know how to pull out heater core and replace, got radiator from o'reilly's auto parts, do not know how to tell if its 2 or 3 row radiator,truck ran fine with new radiator until the oil thermostat shut down,could bypassing heater core and shortening of hoses be a cause of it running hot during the heat of the day, when it runs hot it says check gauges we will post again later thanks.

You need to find the actual temp it is running. You also need the tstat even if it is open all the time. That works as a restrictor to allow retintion time in the radiator.
