Coolant system & thermostat
2004 Suburban 2500 - 4 WD, Big block Vortec 8100 VS, Automatic
Problem: Coolant system flushed, heater now not working and temp on dash gauge only reads 145 degrees after 30 minutes of driving. Then thermostat replaced, same problem exactly. Wondering what to do next? This was done at a local service station. Thanks.

The flushing may have dislodged something that is now in your heater core. Disconnect the heater hoses and run fresh water through both hoses and see what comes out. Could also be an air pocket in the heater core. As for the gauge reading 145, use an infrared thermometer to check the real temp. Get the engine hot and take the temp at the thermostat housing. The flushing may also have affected your temp sensor.
