1999 S10 2.2L 4cyl died while driving, now won't turn over

120k miles, spark plugs replaced ~1k miles ago

On and off for several months I had been having trouble starting my truck- it would take multiple attempts, and in a few cases wouldn't start at all (last happened ~1 month ago).

The last time it ran, while I was driving I noticed a faint clicking sound coming from the engine compartment. A few miles down the road my truck stalled and then wouldn't start. It sounded like it *almost* turned over on its own, but even with a jump it wouldn't start.

My battery was 7yrs old and upon testing it needed to be replaced.

I replaced the battery but it still won't turn over.

It sounds like the fuel pump is turning on when I turn the key.

The fuel pump may be working, but is it giving you enough fuel pressure. If the pressure isn't high enough, it wont run.

replaced a few parts and it runs !!!

same thing happened to me and I left it ib the back yard fro more than 7 months i thought it was DEAD.

after a few tries finally runs again...

I replaced:
  • ICM (Ignition Control Module) about $60.00 new (cheaper used)
  • starter (used)
  • spark plugs (new)
  • spark plug wires (new)
  • cap and rotor. (new)
you can take the ICM to the auto part to see if is damaged or not (they can test it for you)

let me know is you have problems finding it.

I attached a [ic of the Module right below
