2002 blazer 4x4 wont go into 4hi

I need Help
I have a 2002 blazer ls and i will not go into 4hi. when i push the 4hi button while in park or drive it does nothing. not even blink. If i puch 4hi in neutral, 4hi and 4lo lights blink a few times then it returns to 2hi. If i push 4lo while in neutral it engages and works fine. I dont understand why it will not go into 4hi if it goes into 4lo just fine. anyone have any ideas. The snows getting deep and id like to use 4hi. Thanks
Shawn

That sound like a good start and hopefully an easy fix. You also have an actuator or something like that on the transefer and the front axle that shifts the transfer and the diff in. If you check the plugs and they are good, (check on the transfer too)check that.

4hi

I have a 98 S10, had the same problem. Try replacing the switch. It's easy, not too expensive, and tend to wear out from the heat. One way to test is to hold the button, press hard, see if you can at least hear the solenoid click.

The one on the dash? If so I did and still nothing I was told it was something called a ecoder motor

I think it's either a decoder or encoder. Anyhow, check out this site:http://www.automotivehelper.com/topic346045.htm
