2003 S-10 air conditioning issue

Hello,

I am having an issue with the ac on my s10. The air is frosty cold and blows hard for the first few miles of operation, one I get a few miles on the highway, the fan can still be heard but the force of the blower through the vents goes to 0 even on setting 4, I can feel cold air trickling out but nothing else. If I stop for a few min and go in to a store or shut it off, the ac will be blowing again…

Sounds like its freezing up? I had a guy look at it and he said the gauges are looking good and cant find a problem……L

I noticed that the compressor doesn’t shut off, I let it run in the drive for 20 min and it didn’t cycle at all….might be a cps? Do I have to drain the ac system to change this or can I screw in a new one?

I am going on a trip soon and stopping every 30 miles to let it “figure itself out” inst going to work out well.

The controls are manual, might it be a vacuum or motor (vacuum motor) issue?

HELP!! [:@]

Check the freon and if it is overcharged, you need to take it to someone with a freon recovery unit because its illegal to let freon out into the air. If not, it may just need a good cleaning on the coil. You will have to access it though the fan box under the hood because I'm afraid you wont be able to get to it throught the glove compartment. I've never done anything with the air conditioning on my car but I am a residential A/C repairman by trade in school to get my refrigeration license and it goes on the same priciple.[/align]

i had a guy hook the gauges on it and he said that was looking perfect. I am going to open the box and see if its dirty.

What do you think about the cycling pressure switch? the thing never seems to stop, I am wondering if this is causeing it to freeze?
can you change the switch without drawing the system down?

I also have a 2003 Chevy S-10 4.3L with a/c problems. When my climate control knob is set on cold, the air blowing through the vents is heated. It is like the heat is stuck on. When I unplug the climate control switch the heat stops and regular air from the outside flows through the vents. Is this a vacuum leak or the actuator door gone bad? Help?????
