backfires
 
i got a 87 s-10 pickup with a 2.8 v6 in it. i am having an issue with it not wanting to start and when it does it backfires alot and it has recently been shooting flames out the exaust. i have replaced the exaust from muffeler back there is new plugs and wires and distribution cap. im in a loss cause this is currently my daily driver soon to be drag project

can someone help

backfire is when your not fireing at the right time. you should check for codes and do a fuel and compression test first and let us know.

There are two types of backfire...in the engine and in the exhaust. If its in the exhaust then that means you are running rich and the unburned fuel ignites in the hot exhaust, sometimes shooting out a flame. So determine why unburned fuel is getting in the exhaust. Check the EGR valve, and the valve timing as well as all Plugs are firing normally.
