Question S-10 slow start

I have a 1999 S-10,4.3L.The other day it started slowly.I cranked&cranked motorUntil battery was about dead.Hooked jump box & cranked again.Finally started.
Let truck run for a while & cut it off.Still had to crank alot.Drove it to town&back & it started.
Any ideas what the problem would be?
Thanks.

I had a similar problem and added a check valve in the fuel line near the tank and my problem went away. It is much easier than and cheaper than replacing the fuel pump.

oil pressure sensor/relay will cause that on 1st gens.... Long start, and then hard to keep going.... Not sure if that will help help or even relative to 2nd gen.. But cuts off fuel if you have a bad one.. Something else easy to check with ohmeter before go digging deep into engine
