s- 4x4

are s-10 4x4 good on gas and what year would be a good year to buy?

depends on the 2.8 or 4.3 versions.

my 94 s10 4.3 was pretty reliable truck, It did not get great MPG though, mostly used for towing a small boat. After a tune-up, new plugs, k&n, Magna flow cat back system.

I got 17-18 MPG freeway
about 13 towing.

lol...s10 and "good on gas" don't go well in the same sentence. The 4.3's are notoriously bad on gas.

And the 2.8 is low on power.

I love my 4.3L Jimmy because it really realiable but I found that the 4.3L has the power of a 4 cylinder and the same mileage of an 8 cylinder.

The 4.3 that was in my stepdads 95 got 21mpg, but he drives like an ol man, never over 55. but when my brother had it he towed some pretty heavy loads with it, it sure didnt like it though.

We had a 97 S Blazer 4x4 with the 4.3. I always ran synthetic oil in it and got 21.5 mpg on local driving.
