So confused
I have a 87 s-10 blazer with the 2.8 v6 with a 5 sp trany.Just bought it and had it smoged passed with flying colors.Problem is from about 40 mph to 70 mph it is a pig.Around town ok i guess. Also it bounces off 4k wont rev higher than that.Everywhere i go no one can figure it out and i keep getting diffrent opinions.I cant afford to fix every problem someone thinks it is.Engine light came on put scanner on it got code 12/32/42.12 just means sytem working i know but other 2 not sure. One mechanic says exhaust plugged so i have cat taken off and put straight pipe in place.Still the same.Put vaccum on new egr valve and truck stumble with vaccum on it so thats ok.Put new ignition control module in it.Thats not it.One shop says he has been doing exhausts for 30 years and only seen one y pipe plugged he thinks its ignition. It seams whats up is when its cold it runs awesome even spins tires but once warms up its a dog.Serious from 60 mph to 70 takes about 20 minutes. If i barely give it any gas it will slowly speed up but from that barely to full throttle nothing. The last shop i went to even put it on dyno and they are still confused. One says its the distributor itself is faulty and the other guy says its the fuel pump for sure.I guess its a real pain to check fuel pressure on that truck due to no valve in fuel line?I dont know.So does anyone have a opinion on which it could be?I just got a job working in mountains and when i go up hills i drop to 30 mph full throttle. Please help me

RE: So confused
how is the timing ? i know when i put a rebuilt 2.8 in my 85 s-10 the timing was to far advanced and it really picked up the performance when i retarded it to the correct degree of timing .i have had two 2.8 s -10's neither were power houses !

RE: So confused
The timing is dead on,i thought about advancing it but not sure if that will help because of the ignition control module in the distributor.I believe the computer will automaticly slow it down if i advance it.Is it possible to loosen nut and advance it?Will that help me narrow down my problem in maybe it being the distributor?I just have a funny feeling its fuel related but not sure why when its warmed up it changes.I think maybe somehow the pressure is dropping on pump when warmed up?Still confused.

RE: So confused
I just had the exhaust checked and its clean as a whistle. My fuel pump is putting out 15 lbs on the rail.Which i guess is barely catching the minimum.Mechanic said he would change that but might not help.Yes the firing order is right just checked that. Its set on 10 degrese i wonder if advancing it up to 12 or 14 would help?I got it up to 65 mph last night on highway.Took me 20 minutes though to do it.Once i did i kept it floored for another 10 minutes and it never increased in speed at all.I put another ignition control module in it i wonder if somehow the distributor is crap?Help me Help me i am drowning
