Engine light error on the display and it started to hiccup

Engine light error on the display and it started to hiccup
Hello 
i had that issue on a Chevrolet aveo 1.2;
the engine car indicator show the engine light on the display and it started to hiccup, once we got to the mechanic, he reset the error and the car ran smoothly.
a few days later the engine light came on again but the car didn't hiccup, it ran normally.
generally there are no problems with the engine and when pushed hard the engine go without problems, surely those problems are of an electronic nature, what could they be due to?
the mechanic was unable to indicate a specific problem, he said to try using the second key because the problem being electronic could start from there.
Have any of you had any experiences with this?
