Default 03 Express Remote Key Fob Programming Procedure?

I picked up two new fobs and am having an issue finding any DIY procedure for this year Express/ Savana.

The procedure for most truck of this vintage (Hold unlock, key on/ off cycled twice) does not work. The other method I found was jumping the 4 & 8 pins at the OBD2 port but have not tried yet because I'd like some confirmation before I short any pins . Owners manual states that programming can only done by the dealer of course.

Anyone that's managed to DIY this so far? Thank you.

Hi, maybe try a reputable, insured and bonded locksmith.

At a certain year, I cannot remember which, that procedure no longer works. You have to go to the dealer for a relearn.

2003 - 2007 Express: It requires electronics that the dealer plugs into your vehicle.

It's confusing, as other '03 models accept the older method.

Quick update in case anyone has to deal with this issue. Called around to 4 local Chevy dealers, was quoted $75 by 3 and $50 by one. I made an appointment and the lady tells me its $148 and an hour of labor (LOL). She said "Since you don't have a working remote with you, we have to go into the system and delete any existing fobs and reprogram everything. I called her BS saying it takes less than two minutes to plug the tech 2 in and program, she made a call and dropped it down to $74. I cancelled and figured I'd rather take my business somewhere local that isn't trying to play games with me.

I found a local locksmith who did it for $55, sure enough it took a minute flat to program both fobs. Screw the stealerships.

Bravo. I'd do without before I allow anybody to gouge me like that. I don't know where you're at, but trash them on Yelp.
