Blown head gasket on 1996 Chevrolet Surburan 1500
Hi all,
I have a 1996 surburban 1500, which has been diagnosed with a blown head gasket, and a bad injection spider. The mechanic is quoting $3300 to replace those, and also says it will take 2 weeks. They plan to send it to a machine shop. They are also not sure about the fuel pump, but have not quoted a price for replacing that. The engine is not yet overheating. It is difficult to start, and does idle roughly. It does better in cooler weather. There is white exhaust coming out of the tail pipe, and I've had to replace the coolant more than usual.
Does this price (and length of time to repair) sound reasonable? Thanks for your thoughts.
