Hey all,

New forum member here. I just bought a 1990 Silverado 1500 today and want to know if there's anything to keep an eye on.

​​​​​It was a one owner truck with 146k miles on the clock. The engine runs beautifully and doesn't hesitate to obey my control input commands. The body is in dire need of help though. The Chicagoland salt has not been kind to it.

Any and all advice is welcome.

they were/are a pretty good generation of trucks.
for any older vehicle:
-perform a suspension and brake inspection...check the frame for rot if your in the rust belt. if you need to have a safety inspection...check the rocker panels for holes. no since to start repairing all the other stuff if the rockers or frame won't pass.
-check for fluid leaks...anything that is forming full drops of fluid...repair
-perform normally maintenance items...fluids, spark plugs, filters

-I have a GMC version of the same truck. Be sur eto check and replace the serpentine belt if it shows any cracking or wear...it runs "everything". Tranny fluid level and condition is pretty important, too. Brake pads and rotors, of course. Other than that, the most reliable truck I've owned.
