Default Media problem

after years of owning my 2012 Suburban, it all of a sudden won’t play my iPhone music. A message comes up that “The media cannot be used”. My dealership has no idea. Has anyone had a similar issue? Any ideas?

My 13 Suburban is doing the same thing. Had been working fine and now I receive an error message. We’ve tried new name brand apple cords and updated the phone with no luck. Dealer wants diagnostic fee to check it out. Would like to save some $ and fix it myself 🤷🏼*♀️

Well... I'm going to guess that's what broke it...
You can't integrate with other devices without managing both devices. A certain car company *cough cough* does free OTA updates.
I do not believe GM offers this...

So, for now, I'd let GM know it's broken, and my best guess is if enough people complain, they might offer a paid upgrade, or like my 2009 Tahoe, you are just SOL.

Default You need at least one song in your iTunes app

In order for the Infotainment system to recognize your iPhone when you connect it using a USB cable you MUST have at least one song in your phones iTunes app. My iPhone XS Max on iOS 12.X.X was having the same issue and as soon as I put a song into iTunes, it worked.

I bought one song in the Itunes store app (pink square with white star) and played it and a couple other free songs that evening. I am not sure if I needed to buy a song but for $0.99 since to me I wanted to leave no stone unturned. The next day I plugged my iphone 12 in to the usb port in my console on my 2012 z71 tahoe and it worked like it had in the past. Not sure what I had done to make it stop working but that solved my problem.
