Dual climate control hack
This works for all trucks. (oh, yeah, only Chevy Trucks have this problem)
1. Go to local hardware store, and find a 3/4"ball valve with nipples which will fit 3/4" heater hose, and 2 worm drive hose clamps. 2. Work with the truck cold. Pop the hood. Locate the overflow reservoir, loosen the cap till you hear the pressure let off. DO NOT TOUCH THE RADIATOR OR RADIATOR CAP! 3. Find the two heater hoses which go from the water-pump to the passenger side firewall. 4. Find an appropriate, convenient spot for you, in the top (3/4") heater hose, and install the ball valve, using the two hose clamps. This will interrupt coolant flow from the engine to the heater core. Problem permanently solved. In the winter, open the valve, to get water to the heater core. 5. Tighten the overflow reservoir cap. After you start the truck, you will want to watch the overflow reservoir for a few days, to be sure you have not lost any coolant. 6. You're Welcome! {applause} |
