'01 silverado ignition
 

i have a '01 siverado. the key would not turn the ignition. bought a replacement and changed out myself. the little "gear" that snaps in under the ignition got turned during install. finally got it to start and also get accessories to work. MY PROBLEM: when i pull the key out and open the door - the truck still thinks i have a key in the ignition. electric locks also won't work due to the key 'being' in the ignition. brought to the dealer to get 'reprogrammed' that they said might help - BUT didn't. any help would be appreciated.
