'05 Silverado 1500 won't start
Hey folks,
First I'd like to say thanks for hosting such a great forum.
My Silverado 1500 5.3L will crank but will not start. I've checked all of the fuses and all of them are still good. This problem just began yesterday evening(Dec 18) but earlier in the day I had been driving the truck without any issues. The fuel gauge reads 1/2 tank and I'm pretty sure it's accurate, so I guess I'm looking for a couple suggestions on where to start troubleshooting.
Should I be able to hear the fuel pump running when Iturn the key to the "on" position without going to "start"? Is there a schrader port in the fuel line that I can use to test fuel pressure? The truck only has 33,000 miles but should I consider changing the fuel filter anyhow? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

First, you should be able to hear the fuel pump run for app. 2 seconds when turning the key to the run position. Second I would add a couple of gallons of gas to the tank as I have seen many a fuel guage quit reading correctly without any warning.

Thanks for the reply.
I put 5 gallons in it today and still no dice. When I turn the key I do hear a sound in the cabbut I cannot tell if it is the fuel pump or not. When I turn the key and listen near the tank I hear nothing. I assume the fuel pump is in the tank on this vehicle.
