05 Silverado Multiple Symptoms

I have a laundry list of problems that occur randomly and I think they are related.

1. turn key to start, nothing happens, not even dash lights, wait 10 minutes and it starts up fine, happened 3 times during summer

2. voltage meter: sometimes at 14, mostly past 19, needle has gone as far down as possible a few times, checked voltage at battery and alternator always at 14, battery light on dash will come on and display says "Service charging system"

3. speedometer: rarely works correctly, all others gauges work
When the stepper motors go bad do the gauges work at all?

4. AC: blows cold then switch to HOT by itself, turn truck off and back on blows cold again

5. rear-view mirror: dimmed during day-light and will fluctuate back and forth in just a few seconds

Any ideas?

1. Neutral saftey switch...Possibly Or the starter. I had the same problem with my 04 It was the starter. The location of it is close to the exhaust and the coil gets heat soaked.

2. and 3. Could be link together. I had a new cluster installed under a service bulletin. It is a common problem. Do some searching around. It has been brought up plenty in the forum.

4. Another common problem. Make sure your A/C is serviced properly. If its not that its a problem with the actuators in the dash. Its been talked about alot in the forum.

5. thats a new one to me. good luck

Hope this helps
