07 silverado rust problems

FYI I bought an 07 silverado last week from Camp Chevy in Spokane Wa and when I crawled under it at home I found the front spindles, axles, driveline coated with a thick layer of RUST and spots on the rear axle where the paint had fell away and are too rusted badly. the rear drive line is un painted and the slip yoke at the transfer case is rusted enought to cause the seal to seep oil hopefully it wont get worse but probably will. I contacted Camp today but they say I need to talk to the service manager during the work week so we will see. I will keep all in form as to how this B.S. turns out.

RE: 07 silverado rust problems

If you look at the under carriage( suspension and other "parts" - frame itselfusually painted)of any new vehicle these days you will see rust on 99% of them on the dealer lot. They just don't paint stuff anymore and what they do is done 1/2 arsed.

My NBS 07 Silveradois all rusted as well. As was my 05 Silverado, my 05 Tacoma, my 04 Ram, my 03 Ram, etc...

If Camp doesn't do any thing. I will have the truck undercoated, But not without making a lot of trouble for them. I had a 00 Toyota tundra and it had its undercarriage painted. We as consumers need too let the manufactures know this is unacceptable.[:@]

You may make it worse undercoating it. Most of the truck, bed, fenders etc. is galvanized and undercoating it may void your rust through warranty. Cast iron parts showing rust is no big deal, don't worry about it. Rust should not have anything to do with a seal leaking, that may be a different problem your dealer needs to fix.
