well you need the turbine itself, the bypass blow-off valve, you need a new manifold
to install the turbine onto, and that's about it.

Make sure you install the turbine on the correct side of your engine.
And also make sure you correctly install the blow-off valve.
You should also install an intercooler and oil line for maximum efficiency.
Turbo's can be tricky to tune because of the various parts that is why it is best
left to have a mechanic install the system.

As far as electrical modifications go, I don't know if the '87 has even 1/2 of the electrical componants
of the newer models. So maybe you should do some investigating to find out if you need
to do some electrical mods. I wouldn't think so, but I am not sure.

A turbo can greatly improve youor gas mileage cuz it atomizes the air
so it burns better. That way when it mixes with gas there is not as much unburned fuel.
However if you got a lead foot and are flooring it causing the turbo to constantly provide a boost,
it will greatly decrease you gas mileage. So keep that in mind.

Some other mods you could do is put like 11:1 high comp pistons on and adjustable cam sprockets.
the cam sprockets will allow you to take full advantage of the high comp pistons.
Although keep in mind you would have to use supreme gas all the time running 11:1 pistons.
But you should be happy with the turbo alone, it will almost double your horse power.

Good luck!
Post some pics or a vid of your project when all completed.

I really don't think you have the electrical componants in your '87 that you would need
to make the adjustments to, like the EPROM ECU. Maybe you do have 1, I am not sure
that is why I suggest you call a dealer or whatever to find out if you need to make any
electrical mods.

The turbo connects to the hot side of your engine where the manifold goes out to the exhaust.
Like I said, Tuning a turbocharged engine can be tricky which is why it is best to have it professionally
installed. That way it is under warrenty if anything happens (if installed by an insured shop).
