1996 305 vortec wont start.

First of all this is my first post here, I have been a reader for a while, nice forum you all have here.

Anyways this problem has happened once before. The first time it happened, It had sat for 2-3 days and when I went to go start it, It would turn over and every 3-5ish seconds it would start to fire up like it wanted to start and then go back to turning over. I came back to dinkin' around with it 3 days later and a diagnostic gave me a Random Misfire. I cleared the code and after a little more turning over it started. After that it ran for 3 months normally 90% of the time (Sometimes it would get a little boggy and shakey but if i would kill it and start it up again it would run normal) So now its doing it again. I left it sit for 3 days, started it up, drove a mile, fired it up an hour later, it started then died when i put it in gear. Now its doing the same thing. It just turns over and over and every 4 seconds it fires up like it wants to go and goes back to turning over. Sometimes it will bog and seem real hard to turn over for a couple revoloutions then go back to turning over normal.

Pulled no codes this time though.

Its got pressure in the gas lines. And all pouring gas in the intake does nothing but shoot up some flames.

It does seem to spit and cough a little when its turning over.

Plug wires are good.

This sound like anything specific to anybody?

Thanks in advance!

It's been said the CPS(Crank Position Sensor ) is the only thing which will do this and NOT give you a code...

yup, I can hear the fuel pump click on and there is pressure all the way up.

I might have lost the code that i wanted to pull though because i pulled the battery out before i got the code reader.

You need to know if you have spark. How do you know the wires are good? What about the dis cap, rotor and plugs? Just because there is fuel at the rail does not mean the pressure and or volume is good. You need to put a fuel pressure gauge on it. When was the last time you put a fuel filter on?

Havent checked spark yet just because of the fact it wants to fire.

According to previous owner logs wires and plugs only have 10k on them and they look brand new.

When it was running I sprayed down the wires with windex and no idle change.

And since my first post it has given a couple of really big backfires..

Fuel filter should only have ~20K on it.

I don't know what psi its supposed to be at the rail but when i press in the check valve it hit the hood and almost me in the eye haha.
