Default 1998 k1500 5.7 going through oil

The truck is going through about 1/2 quart of oil every 500 miles. I did a compression test and all cylinders are within 15 psi of each other. Spark plugs 3 and 5 have a build up on the plugs after being replaced 200 miles ago. There is no visual smoke on start up and very minimal under load. Any ideas on what could be going on. I think rings but with no compression loss and no smoke I'm not really sure what to think

The 5.7 is known for the intake manifold gasket going bad. Back when I had one, I saw oil in the coolant.
