Default 1998 Z71 Shuts off/cuts off

I have a 1998 Chevy Z71 with the 5.7L Vortec I just installed a Long Block and Rebuilt the Tranny and upon starting up had timing out 180 deg got that straight started up let idle checked all fluids and added more water. Had to adjust the gap a little by rotating dist. ran up the road idled fine but was hesitant at open throttle had to move over one more tooth now it was running fine went for test drive and on the trip home it shut off with only a trans error code for solenoid a elec no engine codes after sitting for a moment it cranked up and drove home. Now since it adjust timing elec do I need to disconnect Battery and reset computer or do I have a faullty sensor that is shutting me down?
