1999 silverado coolant leak on 5.3
I have coolant loss and its not in the oil or in the exahust. Found it in the water pump gasket. Replaced pump while I was there with the metal gaskets. Two days later I'm missing a good bit of coolant. I'm betting its the gaskets. I have seen paper ones. Are they better? I dont care for the metal ones they seem cheap. Also should have I used rtv on them. 22 foot pounds finish torque on the six bolts seems a little low also? I also cleaned the surfaces and lined up the gaskets too. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
