2000 Silverado CD player
 

http://im1.shutterfly.com/media/47a2...3D550/ry%3D400My 2000 silverado has a radio/cassette player with a separate CD player, (lower part of the picture) when I put a CD in it it shows CD on the read out on the radio but then shows ERR and ejects the CD. I tried different CD's and the car was still when I tried it so I know it wasn't movement or bumps causing that, do any of you have an idea where I can start looking to fix this? Thanks in advance for any suggestions

The cd heads might be dirty? This is something I am not well up on, but check with an electronics or auto parts store to see if there is something to clean it with.

If it was me, I'd just replace the stereo with an aftermarket unit.

they make a CD cleaner. It is a CD with little brushes on it. It also comes with a cleaning solution. Put cleaner on brushes and put it in the player. Follow directions or let it play. It doesn't always work, but it is worth a try.
