Default 2001 Silverado A/C & Heat full hot or full cold. No blending

The truck has manual single control heat and air. I've recently replaced the actuator for the temperature control. The door moved easily with my fingers before I installed the actuator. I made sure that all controls were on cold before I attached the new actuator. I can get full cold or full hot but nothing in between. In order for the a/c to be on, the switch has to be on the red side and for heat the switch has to be on the blue side. I've tried every recalibration method I can find. Any one know what else I can try?

I would guess that the actuator was not properly installed since you say that for the A/C the switch has to be on the red side and blue for heat. This is backwards.

I've reset the switch, pulled the actuator, manually reset the blend door and disconnected the battery several times following the installation and calibration instructions. Still no joy. Is there a way I can reset, after reinstalling the actuator and get the proper temp setting and get variable temp air?

Did you put power to the actuator before installing it?

Nope. All instructions I could find said to install it first, then plug it in with either the batter negative cable unhooked or all the hvac fuses pulled.

wondering if the blend door actuator has to be calibrated after replacement? Newer model years do.
