2004 5.3 silverado 1500 Idels perfect Loss of power
Hi I have a 2004 silverado 1500 and I dont know whats wrong Im gettin codes P0174,P0171,P0151,P0102,P0131 and the truck idels perfect but when driving under a load it wont get above 2 thousand rpms and when i push the pedal down it starts missing and backfiring through the intake and exhaust Then when I let off the gas it goes back to idle with no miss. havent changed nothing yet cause I dont want to waste my money on something i dont need So if anyone knows anything let me know thanks

There is no fuel filter on a 2004 and why does it smell like exhaust really bad When it starts to sputter and backfire through the intake Im going to check the fuel pressure right now to see if it has enough pressure Thanks for your responses

there should be an inline filter, usually if an engine is limited in rpm's it is a fuel filter, that wouldnt explain why it is backfireing into the intake though, now for the codes
p0174: lean condition in bank 2 more than likely caused by a dirty MAF sensor (located inside filter box intake tube
p0171: same thing but in other bank
p0151: faulty o2 sensor on bank 2 before the catylatic converter
p0131: same thing , bank1
p0102: dirty or disconected maf (yes it can throw 2 codes
is your maf sensor connected? this will prevent the truck from running properly
the other things like the o2 sensors wont make the truck run like that, there must be a bad connection at the maf sensor, or you arent getting enough furl pressure
hope this helps

Actully its a brand new MAF sensor and it is connected cause i diconnected and it ran worse and yes i am gettin the lean codes on the left and right banks Do you think the backfire could be from a lean pop and the only filter is in the tank Im goin to drop the tank today and check it out

could be, u could also have an exhaust leak too, i looked it up and there is no inline filter like u say, they have a pre pmup screen and then a filter right before the pump, it is called "non serviceable", but have u ever met filter that didnt eventually get clogged? i havent, the right fuel pressure is 65 psi, see if yours has it

My first post- Dont beat on me too much.
I am 100% positive that the codes that have been set are in response to a faulty fuel pump. Is there any follow up on how this was solved- I know this is an older thread.

I'm more of an old school guy (pre-computer engines are easiest for me) so I'll just throw this possibility out because I have seen it many times cause a well running 'idling' engine loose power when requested of it, and that would be a vacuum leak. Not sure how such a leak would show up in the on-board computers analysis, but anyway, it's a stab at it.
FYI: the replies to this post are very intelligent and I hope I don't lessen them with this possibility. You guys are a smart bunch!
