Thank you for answering your own question

I wondered when someone would stop dancing around the question and answer it. I did the exact same thing you did, but was never sure whether the wrench I was using was going to loosen the fitting or strip the head of it out. Only I cut the lines all the way back to where they were sound and not rusted. This left me with the delimma of cutting them off further so I could get a socket on the fitting or.... Hmmmmmmm....

I remembered that I have one of those open center ratchets where the ratchet engages the socket on the outside, leaving the center open and free to pass a bolt (or in this case, a brake line). I bought it back when Sears was developing improved versions of old tools and came up with some pretty good ideas every now and then. It took some finagling to get the socket past some of the sharp bends in the tubing, but I finally got the socket and ratchet on the head of one of the fittings and without an extraordinary amount of effort, got it loose and removed it from the ABS pump. Four more tries later I had all five of the brake lines off of the pump and ready to duplicate with new, unrusted and preformed (by me) brake lines. Now to put this puppy back on and hope everything lines up the way it should.
