Just a quick note. What model do you have and engine? The reason I ask is I was having a conversation last night with a friend who is also a mechanic and part of the discussion centered on Chevy's full size trucks. He mentioned that Chevy discontinued putting cabin air filters in their full size trucks in 2003 as standard equipment, ( now I don't know if that means you could still get it as an option, as i seem to remember the truck I replaced them in referenced in my first post was a 2006 model year. ) Some catalogs list a cabin filter for 2006 while others do not. I'm not sure if htere is another way to tell if your truck does have them other than removing the panel I outlined previously. I don't know if what my friend says is fact and if it was an option that year, and if so was there an option code(RPO code) on the SPID sticker for this. If so it would make life easier to the owner before they go tearing into their ventilation system only to discover they do not have one. So don't be alarmed if you do look to replace them and they aren't there.
