Default 350 engine a little help please

well i jsut recently bought this truck. It is a 83 Chevy C10 with 350 in it. One thing What does the C mean in C10? and the other does anyone know about the 350 engine. i am a ew chevy owner. I just got out from owning a Ford Ranger and it pretty much ildingtook a dump on me. I would personally like to know more about the 350 myself. The guy that owned it before me was building it to be a quarter mile truck. I would liek to continue with that but i still want it to be street legal. Let me knwo what i can and can not do to it. New Chevy owner again so try not to confuse me. lol Thanks yall

The C stands for "Customize this *****". If you have a truck that was previously being built to be a quarter truck. you should have some great parts on this pickup. How far did the previous owner get? Is the suspension redone for the strip or is it all stock? What did he do to the engine? The 350 ci engine is a pretty easy thing to understand, if you are familiar with any old 1960's - early 1990's style v8 it's all pretty much the same. A good 350 block can be the base of a great engine. it's right there with the 327 and 396 ci engines. If your previous ranger had a bad idling loop in it, say goodbye to that problem with an older pickup. The worse thing that you will encounter is the gas pump.

He didnt get real far into the build he just built the engine and put it in the truck. The suspension is still the same all stock. This is actually my first v8 to own. All other vehicles were junk. I want to get at least 450 hp maybe if possible nothin to extreme. Like i wold like to put cams and intake and headers. I just dont know what parts are really good but I dont want to have it be a gas hog this is my daily driver.

good luck building a 450 hp engine that is good on gas. it'll pass everything but a gas station. just remember, what ever you put into the engine fuel wise, you have to get it out. so do more than a cam and carb. my suggestion is, go to an automotive machine shop and kick some ideas around with some of the people that work there. you'll have to get some machine work done to get the results that you want for this engine. you might want to shoot for 350 hp.
