700r4 trans question
i recently bought a 86 chevy 4x4 that had a blown front seal, 700r4. money is tight so i just replaced the front seal and called it a day. anyways the transmission works ok but its kind of slow to get into gear when i come out of park or from reverse to drive. and also the shifts are a bit lazy. my question is can i get by with putting a shift kit in the trans so i dont have to have it rebuilt? will that help the shifting slowness?

have you changed the filter? fluid level and condition ok? if trans is not operating right, then no shift kit is gonna help. gotta figure out why trans isn't right first.

it sounds like your trans fluid is low. If I remeber right you should check fluid when the truck is warm and running of a good flat surface.

Change the fluid and filter.
Try to get a Constant Pressure Valve Body. Look on TCI for one. The T.V. cable is a very tempermental thing, and it controls the shifts. |
