Wow Rockauto always seems to ding me alot for shipping (WA state) - what's your secret?

I haven't any idea. Just ordered the part and that's what came up.

New fuel pump
 

New fuel pump installed. Truck runs great. Suspected cause of pump failure: Running the tank too low too often overheating the pump. With $4 a gallon gas in So Calif sometimes it's hard to pull into a gas station and keep the thing full. I know, I know...it's just a psychological thing. :)

K1500 won't stay running or wont restart after it quits or turned off.
 

Hi all new here but been building and racing gm for 30 years.I kniw this is an old conversation but As to the wont re start or stay running. Gm is notorious for fuel issues after they started putting the pump in the tank.The pump is cooled by the fuel, they burn out very easily if you run low on gas often, sometimes even once.. they will burn out with dirty filters quickly As well .Intermittent problems are often caused by the fuel gauge sending unit on the pump. They get hot and malfunction, the computer believes its a fuel issue and will not let the truck run.To check you can check pressure as many have said, but that will read good until the unit gets hot.this will drive you crazy because EVERYTHING will check out normal until it gets hot( fuel sending unit)then it will die and/or won't restart for various lengths of time .My advice is change the fuel sending unit.
,its on the same shaft as the pump in the tank.Never run the truck low on fuel ,the pumps are really garbage as are the sending units.Personally I install a fuel pressure gauge inline after the filter to monitor for clogs In The system , a change in pressure indicates you need to investigate before it won't run.I also run a dedicated ground wire soldered to the grounds for the pump as the Frame
Ground is highly
susceptable to corrosion and poor connection.Obviously be carefull with any heat or spark near any fuel.
