94 K1500 5.7L Low Oil Pressure and 4x4 Problem

Hello...

I have a 94 chev K1500 with the 5.7 in it. I have two problems I'm hoping someone can help with.

First, I have low oil pressure all the time. The engine knocks loudly when at idle and the check gages light comes on. At road speeds the oil pressure comes up but only to around 20lbs or so. I assumed it was a blocked intake screen or the pump itself. This last weekend I pulled the oil pan and the screen wasn't clogged so in went the new oil pump. Initially I had pressure way above 40lbs but after driving for about 15 minutes I'm back to the same problem as before. The only thing I can think of now is that the bearings are shot??? Any thoughts or ideas?

Second, the four wheel drive will not engage. When it went out it seem to take a long time to shift in. Now nothing happens. Lights on the indicator stay off and no four wheel drive. I pulled out the small servo/actuator from the front axle and it goes in and out when shifting in the truck but it does so very slow. Is this normal? The switch also works as I pulled it from the housing and the indicator lights can be operated by manually depressing the switch. Is the actuator most likely the culprit? Or am I missing something?

Thanks for all your help!

Brad
