I have a 95 Silverado with a 5.7 engine, what effect will it have on the running if the Cat is removed. Anything else need to be done to keep the truck running smoth.
Thanks for any advise Ronnie

It will be louder and that is about it. I ran my 95 without a cat for quite a while then stuck one back on it once I moved to Texas and had to get it inspected. I actually think I got better mileage with it on. I did install a Magnaflow cat from Jegs because it was a ton cheaper than a stock replacement.

Taking the cat off will burn up your valves to where your engine will have no compression and no power. You have to have some back pressure. If you have a muffler your fine but without anything it all you'll be buying a new engine in a year
