Default 95 Siverado K1500 oil pressure

Hey guys,

I have a 95 K1500 with a 5.7. I have noticed that when stopping at a red light, the oil pressure will drop to about 18 to 20 psi. When running down the road, it will get up as high as 40 psi or a little less. I want to put a mechanical guage on it to try to determine if the stock guage is accurate, or what the real pressure is. Is there any place on a 4x4, other than where the sending unit is, that I could temporarily connect this guage? Is the pressure that I am seeing fairly normal. Oh, this is with a brand new oil and filter change. 187 k miles.

Thanks,
Brad

Thanks Suzuki-Guy,

I actually did some searching before I posted and it appears that some others were having similar issues. I just wanted to be sure.

Where did you come up with Suzuki-Guy? The reason that I ask is that I have an 87 Samurai on 33's with a 99 model 1.6 in it. Most handles like that have a story behind them.

Oh...Okay. A dirt bike. I used to have a 79 model PE250 back about a hundred years ago. I would love another dirt bike, but I don't bounce quite as well as I used to.
