AC Help anyone

I have an 01 silverado with a 5.3 and have done alot of work to it this winter... Now when I turn on the AC the truck starts to bog down and acts like it whants to die out on me. I need some help on which direction I should go, compressor, fuel, air or combanation of all.

Did you overfill the freon? That'll lock 'em up tight.

no...uhmm what codes do you get? Next time let it stall and see if the CEL light comes on. I am thinking your idle is not boosting when you put the AC on, so Idle Speed Control solenoid. I dont know what you did to it this winter, what did you do?

new heads, drilled into the water jacket installing the headers, all new gaskets, cold air intake, trans dapt TBS, new plugs, wires and shocks. I did not mess with the freon or comprerssor. I let the truck stall today while it was hot and it would not start untill it cooled off. There is a new issue, I just tried to make it stall and it would not because it was cool out side and I noticed a constant ticking comming from the valve located ontop of the motor just behind the intake?

I dont think drilling into the water jackets was a good idea but try swapping out the AC relay with another relay. That stall and not starting until it is cool is a normal sign of overheating and/or low oil pressure. The switches send a signal to the PCM and the PCM turns off the car. If you drilled into the water jackets you may be losing antifreeze or burning it which is why the car runs hot or shuts off.

Dont know what the ticking is without hearing it.
